Struga’s Eurobus motor coach that overturned was bound for Vienna from Bitola

The motor coach with Macedonian license plates, which hurtled off the Leskovac highway last night at 1:45 am, belongs to the Struga company Eurobus. It departed from Bitola on Saturday at 7 pm and was going to Vienna, Austria.

Skopje, 16 December 2018 (MIA) – The motor coach with Macedonian license plates, which hurtled off the Leskovac highway last night at 1:45 am, belongs to the Struga company Eurobus. It departed from Bitola on Saturday at 7 pm and was going to Vienna, Austria.

Eurobus owner Dzitan Istrefi told MIA the motor coach, manufactured in 2006, had been regularly inspected for mechanical defects and had passed all vehicle safety tests.

“We’ve sent our employees and another one of our buses to the scene of the accident so we can see the situation and take whatever steps are necessary.

“Our buses are kept in good condition, we don’t leave any room for error,” Istrefi added, revealing no other details about the crash.

Three people were killed in the traffic accident when the Macedonian coach overturned in winter-weather conditions in Serbia. Police are identifying the victims.

Four people sustained life-threatening injuries and were transferred to the Nish Clinical Center while the remaining passengers were taken to the Leskovac Hospital. Three of them have serious injuries and are being treated in the Leskovac hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and one person with severe injuries is in the Orthopedic Unit.

The other 23 passengers are stable, having sustained minor injuries.

The bus driver and co-driver were not injured but declined to talk to the press. mr/12:50
